3-Day Camp

Welcome to Penobscot Pony Club! PPC is a local affiliate of The United States Pony Club, Inc.; Northeast Region, which covers the entire state of Maine.
Pony Club serves youth aged 6 - 25. Like all Pony Clubs, we are an educational and social organization that teaches riding, mounted sports, and the care of horses and ponies. Pony Club develops in a child the characteristics of responsibility, moral judgement, leadership and self-confidence.
Pony Clubbers have FUN, while learning horsemanship, sportsmanship, teamwork and independence. Older members assist the younger members by modeling appropriate behavior, giving encouragement and support.

Marshall Gray, Sandra Johnson, and Sally Witham; PPC 50th Anniversary, July 16, 2006

Penobscot Pony Club was founded in 1956, by the families of Lendon and Marshall Gray, Sandra Johnson, and Sally Witham.

We are located on the Miles Road, Newburgh, Maine ( Directions), just down the road from the former Gray family farm, now Puckerbrush Riding Center. Our facility has stalls for twenty horses, a tack/meeting room, and large sand arena. We have access to cross country fields nearby, as well as trails.

“As a member of the United States Pony Club, I stand for the best in sportsmanship as well as in horsemanship. I shall compete for the enjoyment of the game well played and take winning and losing in stride, remembering that without good manners and good temper, sport loses its cause for being. I shall endeavor to maintain the best tradition of the ancient and noble skill of horsemanship, always treating my horse with consideration due a partner"
